BGS - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Lexington Signal Depot, Lexington Army Depot, Lexington-Bluegrass Army Depot - a facility as varied as the many names it has held, Bluegrass Station has been an important feature of Central Kentucky for the past sixty-four years.  During that time it has endured name changes, mission changes, closure, and reopening as an entity of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Like the many changes that have occurred in the world around it, Bluegrass Station has evolved into an excellent industrial park with a bright future ahead. This section of our site describes Bluegrass Station from its beginning through today and on to the future ahead. We hope you enjoy your visit!

Bluegrass Station Yesterday

Construction on the facility initially designated as the Lexington Signal Depot began in June 1941, six months before the United States' entry into World War II. Click here to learn more about Bluegrass Station's history and view some early images.

BGS Today

BGS is a self-supporting entity of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and receives no money from the general fund of state taxpayer dollars. Today the facility is a nationally recognized success story.

and Tomorrow.....

The future looks bright for Bluegrass Station. Its centralized location, many wonderful features, and dedicated staff will enable BGS to continue its development and growth, thus providing even more jobs for Central Kentucky.
