Who and What Is Bluegrass Station?

Bluegrass Station Division is part of the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs. The Division is tasked with operating and maintaining the Bluegrass Station facility for the state. The division consists of an Administrative Branch and a Maintenance Branch, both located in Building 18 near the center of the facility.

Bluegrass Station, once called the Lexington Signal Depot, almost fell victim to the military base closures of the 1980's, but the state agreed to take over its operation in 1994. Since then, the state has marketed the facility as a site for light industry.

Bluegrass Station Division offices are in Building 18, which is located on B Street, across from Building 5. 

The Administrative Branch handles the leasing, paperwork, and office duties for the Division's employees in addition to billing our tenants for all rent, utilities, and services provided. Putting out requests for bids, safety and security management, and meeting environmental regulations are also the responsibility of the Administrative Branch.

Maintaining a sixty-year old facility would be impossible without an excellent Maintenance Branch. Team members provide such skills as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; carpentry; and design. They tackle jobs from small repairs to major renovations with the same hard work and dedication that has made them favorites with our tenants. The Yards and Grounds section not only keeps the green spaces looking nice in the summer - it also keeps our streets clear and safe in the winter.
